This month, March 2021, is Women’s History Month. For this episode, we want to highlight a woman we know has made history and is truly an Asian American woman with a story to be inspired by—Broadcast Journalist and News Anchor, Sasha Foo.

Sasha Foo was the first Asian American news anchor at CNN in Atlanta and later spent 17 years with KUSI-TV in San Diego. Although we can look at these accomplishments by themselves, what makes her story notable is her journey there and her recent departure from this area.

Sasha Foo studied Sociology in college and worked through internships and contract work as a news writer. She recalls being very unimpressive to her colleagues and supervisors but continued to work for the profession that she felt called to as an aspiring writer. She later sent a tape for the new “CNN 2” or “Headline News” that was to begin in Atlanta and was pleased to learn that she was offered a position. From then, her work as a reporter and anchor was history.

After a long career in the news, Sasha Foo left KUSI-TV in 2020. She reflects on her entire career journey and the many interests she had “put on the back burner” which she has since chosen to pursue. Be sure to follow up with Sasha Foo’s journey by looking out for her name on social media!
